Bilwamangal Takur of UP was a rich zamindar. He had a mistress by name Chintamani whom he loved very dearly. Every day without miss he used to meet her. One day he was delayed doing final rights (shraddha) of his dead father. He hurriedly finished the rights and ventured in the stormy night to meet his beloved mistress. The river was overflowing, still he dared to swim to the bank holding a floating debri, thinking it a piece of wood, which was actually a dead body. The mistress had locked the doors of her house thinking the zamindar wont turn up in such a heavy storm.
The Zamindar climbed the walls of her house and he clung to a python hanging on the window thinking it a rope. The mistress was dumbfounded when she saw how much trouble he has taken to reach her. She reasoned with him not to get so much mad at her. She told him, 'if u had the same amount of love towards the Lord instead of a sinning mistress, he would have had all the worldly pleasures'. She scolded him not to keep so much affection on a sinning body which is non-permanent. She also narrated god-conscious stories to the Takur whole night. Hearing her for a whole night, Takurs mind was changed. That was the turning point, he immediately left thanking his mistress.
On his way to Vrindavan, he meets a married lady and follows her to her house again overcome by strong desire to have her. The lady summons her husband who is a strong devotee, who hears to the Zamindar and silently allows him to meet his wife. Seeing his behaviour the zamindars conscious again pricks him and he asks for the hairpin of the lady and blinds himself. He apologises and again proceeds to Vrindavan completely blind. There Lord himself serves him by serving him milk daily in the form of a young boy.
